About the Lions Club

Our mission is simply “We Serve.” As Lions Members, we serve our community in important ways. We proudly complete vision screenings with over 900 children in the Southern Hancock Schools (3rd, 5th and 8th graders) over the course of two days in early fall. By doing this, we are able to help the schools complete state required screenings and identify children who made need vision support for the first time or update their current prescriptions. Serving in our schools is an honor!

In addition, we are blessed to be able to help families in need who have no other means to get glasses. We are able to work with a local eye care provider to get an eye exam and glasses for them.

In order to support these programs and the scholarship program, we host community events. Not only do these events help us carry out our giving efforts, but they also provide fun, food and entertainment for our community.

Our Lions Members are the heart of all of this! Without our dedicated members, we cannot do the great work that we are able to do. Volunteering time is not the same as it used to be when our treasured club began. People are busy now more than ever! Clubs like ours used to be the place where people socialized and came back home to catch up with each other. With the ability to communicate and travel easily, it has caused clubs to rethink their approach to volunteerism. We know time is precious! We also know the gift of giving back to the community. We try to balance both of these to create a fun and vibrant group of individuals who have the same goal, “We Serve.”
